Goals that I Have for My Practicum Experience

The medical field has been influencing the world since it was discovered, as it helped a lot of people come back from a situation that hinders their daily lives. As such, the birth of various individuals pursuing this field has been continuously increasing to provide safety and security in terms of health. Just like how the world is now in need of health workers, the importance of these individuals increases even more than before. Within that idea, this paper will present the specific goals that I want to attain and achieve throughout this practicum experience.
Goals and Objectives
In the study of Salom and Florendo (2013), they stated that vision, mission, goals, and objectives (VGMOs) are the critical foundation of every educational institution to support and guide their future. With that in mind, symbolizing individuals as an educational institution, people also use these concepts to guide their path afterward. This is supported by Ioniţă (2013) where she explained that goals are an essential factor that influences the level of performance of people, and again, serves as a guide to the actions that should take place. Having this as an idea, during his practicum experience, my goals have been divided into three categories, such as the following:
Skills
Keeping in mind that a medical practitioner influences the life of the patients, these individuals should have proper skills and experience to provide proper care, which implies education and internships. Information literacy would be the first skill that I would like to improve more during this experience. Ullah and Ameen (2016) presented that information literacy skills are an essential factor in the understanding and knowledge of the students as this skill provides excellent help to identify information, especially in the medical field. Through this skill, gaining and finding information when needed would be easier and accurate, which significantly helps the action within the institution. Another skill that I would like to develop is my communication skills, as according to Choudhary and Gupta (2015), this skill is an important and essential factor in medical practices. This conclusion is supported by Ramasamy et al. (2014) as they reasoned out that medical practitioners encounter various patients with different cultural and social backgrounds, which are factors that play for miscommunication and misunderstanding. They also discussed that people nowadays tend to perceive whether a health worker is either good or bad through their communication skills. This is one of the reasons why I look forward to this experience, as this will shape my communication skills to a more appropriate professional.
Clinical Contributions
In this section, I will provide the most accurate contribution that I want to achieve throughout this experience: to be an advocate of change.
