Out of ten people who have the possibility of developing diabetes, only three are aware of their condition. This is an issue that affects the vast majority of American citizens. Due to lack of this crucial information discovery of the illness is made at a very late stage and management becomes difficult.
Effect
The effect on the American population is negative. This is because many people are not aware that they are actually disposed to suffering from diabetes. As result, there is an increase in the number of people suffering from the illness in recent years. Unfortunately diseases such as diabetes can be genetic (Aubert, 2015). Having an increase in number of people suffering from the disease means that there is whole lot of others affected. The negative effects of the current status of diabetes is that there are more people who are now diagnosed with advanced stage diabetes, making it harder to manage. There is also the negative effect if having more young people become diabetic. This will mean that the workforce of the country will be interfered with tremendously.
