In this paper, one quantitative study is selected from the research articles that were identified for my project. Three questions listed on the critical appraisal guide created by Fineout-Overholt et al. are answered. The selected article is:

Question 1: why was the study done?
This research was conducted in order to assess the effectiveness of low-molecular-weight heparins (LMWH), unfractionated heparin, as well as warfarin utilized in preventing venous thromboembolism in arthroplastic surgery of the knee joint.
Question 2: what is the sample size?
The sample size was 60. In this prospective quantitative study, a total of sixty patients took part and they were split into 3 different groups with equivalent numbers.
