Abstract
In this research project, the identified problem is adults with total knee replacement (TKR) and the proposed solution is low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH), also known as nadroparin, in preventing deep-vein thrombosis (DVT) in patients who have undergone TKR. Presently, the incidence of DVT after TKA with no prophylaxis ranges from 40% to 88%. PE and DVT are major causes of mortality and morbidity. A total of 15 peer-reviewed articles describing the problem and which support the proposed solution are explored, and they all consistently reveal that LMWH is effective and is the optimal drug in the prevention of DVT for patients who have undergone TKR surgery.
