I took this course to learn more about health and health policies, how I can improve health and to help other people. Health literacy cultivates ones skills, knowledge and positive attitudes about health as it is important for social, economic and health development. It teaches us about physical, mental, emotional and social health and motivates learners to develop and maintain their health, prevent disease, and reduce risky behaviors. The impact of health education and literacy on population health particularly on women's health was motivating enough for me to desire to have the knowledge on health issues. I hope with the knowledge I will gain, I will be able to develop systems of health policies that are successful both locally and internationally.
In regard to health policies, there are some major health issues that arise in the health sector. One of the issues which I personally think affects the health sector is health care. Personal health is a top priority to most Canadians. Many people pay a lot of money for good healthcare. In fact, public funding and attempts to reform the sector are policies aimed at making the health care system better. Some of the policies that affect the health care system are as follows.
