Patient education is the process by which medical personnel provide patients with information which helps them to change their health behavior and generally improve their health. Patients are taught on what to do, when, how and why they should change their lifestyles for the sake of their health.
Understanding of unlicensed personnel is difficult, however, and therefore takes a lot of time and energy. As Redman (2004) explains, many people are not willing to change their lifestyles and as such it takes a lot of hard work and patience to actually convince someone to change their behaviors.
