A healthcare system can be referred to as the association of individuals, institutions and other assets involved in the delivery of healthcare services to the population to meet their individual needs (). A system is a group of interconnected people, organizations and other resources that work together for a common goal or objective. The United States healthcare delivery system has for long experienced much problems which derail their operations for effectiveness in serving the community. This has been greatly as a result of the fragmentation in their delivery system, thereby resulting to the delivery of low quality services and inefficient healthcare to the people.
The issue of fragmentation results from lack of a governing body as well as policies for governing the healthcare system. This has seen medical practitioners and hospitals within the United States operating as single entities without having a connection to each other.
