Introduction
Hospital violence against healthcare providers, particularly nurses is a significant challenge that is posing a threat to the medical world. This problem is currently finding root in the health care systems in all countries. Violence against the medical staff exposes these practitioners to brutal behaviors and can be caused by patients, their families or even other senior staff members. The reasons behind violent actions may be accredited to the physical proximity of the nurses to those they attend to for instance patients.
Nurses are the most valuable and readily available caretakers for patients during the day and night shifts, and forms the immediate or frontline practitioners who deal with patients and their families in the hospital. The most common forms of violence among nurses include verbal abuse as well as physical abuse. The prevalence of workplace violence against medical practitioners is reported to be rapid.
The antecedents and causative factors to workplace violence are mainly affected by gender, age, educational levels, working hours and the type of therapeutic communications. As a result of this, the nurses job performance and care is affected (Albashtawy, 2013). On the other hand, a case of absenteeism, are likely to take lace thus hampering the nurse’s professional lives, increasing stress and mistrust among the workers and increases the chances of burnout. A decrease in the general care levels may also be experienced as a result of dissatisfied workers frustrated by violence.
Method of obtaining the necessary approval and securing support for the Project
In order to successfully implement this project, this paper will pursue external information that is available based on experiences with the implementation of the stated guidelines. A solution focused approach will be developed, and this will not be effective to prevent violence in emergency rooms due to the varying structures created by organizations. The employees, mainly nurses, were also involved in the results of this project rely on their experiences and feedback.
It was also important to get their views on approaches to mitigating this menace in the health sector. However, a suitable organizational strategy will be developed and implemented by incorporating employers and employees and also involving important stakeholders such as unions and health and safety representatives and experts (Albashtawy, 2013). This will be the main determinant factor in achieving success in the implementation of the project.
Problem Description
Violence against health care workers is a concern and challenge that is cropping in the health sector. Workers, especially nurses attending to patients in the emergency rooms are prone to assaults in their line of duty. These incidences have lowered productivity in the medical sector with nurses becoming disillusioned with their profession.
