This assignment discusses on the immediate consequences of civil war. The three main consequences are casualties and psychological effect, Physical displacement of citizens and degradation of economic activities (Smith, 2011). Civil war causes casualties as people are wounded while others are killed. Some of those who are wounded do develop long term medical complications and cold develop physical disabilities (Collier & Sambanis, 2005). It is also a traumatic experience to witness members of your families or even friends being killed before you and there is no way can assist them. Lastly is destruction of economic activities in the areas which are affected by war.
