Power and knowledge work hand in hand to deliver effective results. Power depends on knowledge to be functional and reproduces knowledge. Black Athena, African writing styles, and controversies surrounding The Atlantic Slave Trade indicate the utilization of both power and knowledge to instill positive changes in Africa. It is through power and knowledge that Africa received civilization. Lacking knowledge can cost power in significant measures.
Black Athena examines the aspect of African origins from Greek civilization. Professor Martin accuses the classists of suppressing connections that Africa had with other countries, cultures, myths, and art. Classical civilization, which is categorically discussed by Black Athena, contains deep roots for Afro-Asiatic cultures. These Afro-Asiatic cultures have been numerously ignored and suppressed due to racism reasons. Power made white authorities feel better than African colonies. Since ages, Africans were equated to a lesser being, one that cannot make significant decisions on their own (Knight, 2018).
