Environmental criminology helps people feel safer in their community by creating awareness of crime, criminality and victimization (Bruinsma et al., 2018). This awareness encourages community members to be vigilant by taking all the necessary measures to prevent any possibility of crime. By doing so, environmental criminology enriches the community’s understanding of crime and its prevention.
