A health care organization is a group of people that aim to cater for the health needs of a people of a certain area. We can classify all hospitals as health care organizations because their main aim is to meet the health care needs of people.
Abbott northwestern hospital –Minnesota
The Abbot Northwestern hospital of Minnesota is part of Allina hospitals and clinics, a non-profit group of hospitals and other patient care services. That provides exceptional care to the communities in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. It was started by a doctor by the name Dr. Amos abbot and it was intended to be a women’s clinic. later on this Abbott and the northwestern hospitals were brought together to form the Abbott northwestern hospital corporation in the year 1970.the merger was necessary since the two hospitals faced the same challenges ,served the same communities and shared the doctors and nurses. It is the largest hospital in the twin cities and recognized both nationally and locally for its exceptional services and expertise in health care.
In June last year the Abbott western hospital in Minnesota faced the largest ever strike of its kind with almost 12,000 nurses walking out on the job. This was very dangerous because this hospital serves about 200,000 people. These hospital workers went on strike over several issues which include; pay pensions and the staffing ratios. This caused a major stall in the administering of treatment to patients to the extent that the hospital brought in almost 3000 nurses, doctors, nurse practitioners and other health care assistants to cater for the needs f the patients in the hospital then. This made the hospital incur extra costs in paying the medical it had shipped in bearing in mind that the staff that was on strike required money also.
