Amphetamines are a group of drugs believed to be as addicting as heroin. Amphetamines can be injected, ingested or snorted. Amphetamines stimulate the nervous system causing users to experience increased sweating, quicker breathing and raised blood pressure (pg 64). In a study don e by Greene and colleagues in 1973, involving three hundred and twenty men arrested for various crimes; all has used amphetamines. The effects of amphetamines on sexual behavior depend on the personality, dosage and setting (pg 65). According to the studies the sexual behavior of the user may be enhanced, diminished or there may be no change at all. Paranoid psychosis of amphetamine use can last long after the actual drug use. The paranoid reactions are usually characterized by indiscriminate violence (pg 67).
