The Public Procurement and Affordable Care Act will tremendously increase the number of Americans who will have the ability to afford health care. The physicians available to provide the needed primary care are insufficient and the numbers are expected to fall even further as the accessibility to health under the new Act increases. The provision for APRNs under the American Nurses Association is that; in order to meet healthcare needs within the country, a workforce that is integrated and looking beyond physicians should be put into practice, with APRNS and Certified Nurse Midwives being proven to be cost effective and quality providers of primary care.
