Proctor’s infidelity led to Abigail giving false testimony against his wife so that he could reignite the sparkle of a love affair she had with Proctor and possibly marry him. At the end of the play, Proctor regrets the situation he put himself into by having a love affair with Abigail and the suffering it brought on his family and other innocent people like his Mary Warren.
Abigail, a seventeen-year-old orphan, actions have led to the direct or indirect suffering of other people. Apart from the love affair she had had with Proctor, she has given false testimony against many people and had them face trials for witchcraft. All her actions are centered in winning Proctor who she believes is still in love with her. Her plan is to build an irr...
