To deal with miscommunication it is essential to first understand the facts surrounding an issue (Goldsmith et al., 2011). This is possible by trying to understand the other argument or source of misunderstanding; this is mainly because people often have misunderstandings for having different facts on the same situation. Related to this, is acknowledgement of divergent opinions of the situation, and knowing facts helps to come to an understanding. Additionally, it is necessary to highlight on interpretation of the situation by understanding meaning attached to the situation or issue. Through listening to the experiences and opinions of the other person it is easier to understand their conclusion.
Miscommunication typically occurs because of lack of proper communication, to minimize miscommunication and conflict, it is necessary to have open channels of communication and give clear messages. Furthermore, feedback is essential to facilitate communication and come to an understanding as this reduces the possibility of assumptions.
