One like the Son of Man Interpretation
“Son of man” is a common phrase used in a number of apocalyptic works, Hebrew bible, and the Greek New Testament. One like a son of man or son of man is used is used severally in both Old and New Testament literature to signify an eschatological figure that will come at the end of time. In addition, the phrase is used as a contrast of man and God or as a form of address.
The book of Daniel chapter 7 tells about the vision given to Prophet Daniel. In this vision, there are four “beasts” that are used to represent nations that oppress Israelites until when they are punished by God. In the book Daniel 7: 13, it describes how God gives dominion over earth to the figure that is described as “one like a son of man. This son is later explained to be a representation of “the saints of the Most High” as illustrated in Daniel 7:18. Later, the “people of the saint” and the “saints” are used to stand for the Israelites. Daniel as the author of this book has some hopes that at some point God will take dominion over the world and He will take it from beastly nations and give it to humanly nations like Israel.
