Despite the association of pressure ulcers with the negligence of the nursing staff, it is the duty of the healthcare service providers to offer management strategies to mitigate the effects of the same. It has become a priority of the health care providers to seek to address the pressure ulcers issue in every healthcare setting in the world over.
In order to achieve the intended goal of managing the pressure ulcers, the theory of positivism in health care provision can be adopted. It is a practical theory which is based on research to develop theories rather than articulation of theories to develop research. Positivism emphasizes on the specific body part that is affected by an ailment. The focus is well articulated in the specific area, the condition and the treatment so as to achieve maximum high quality results.
Cunningham, Nab & Bowie (2014) note that; positivism focuses on discovery of general laws about a phenomenon, the particular causes as well as the effects. The rationale for selection of this theory is because it emphasizes on facts and reality. It does not dwell on assumptions or the generalized views that may be out of chances. Positivism is based on the reality on the ground and not articulated on a particular instance.
Above all, positivism seeks to integrate social aspects in the health care so as to achieve maximum output for the patients as well as the health care providers. An efficient theory is bound to provide easiness of work to the health care providers. On the part of the patients, they are likely to acquire a quicker recovery as well as a more personalized care that leaves them feel not undermined. This follows the avoidance of generalization in the execution of the principles of this theory.
As Cunningham, Nab & Bowie (2014) found out; this theory works to support the proposed solution in the sense that, it integrates the social components in the health care. The social aspects are aligned with the particular ailment and not in a general perspective. For instance, this theory may instill integration of how different people view the pressure ulcers ailment. Different factors such as age and gender are analyzed in view of the specific ailment. Other social factors that could be considered may include social and economic classes. Different categories of people on this illness may have different views concerning this ailment. Their perspective on this particular ailment, according to the positivity theory, should then be considered in delivery of care to the specific patients.
This theory could be incorporated in to the project by integrating the social aspects. As the project is carried out, social aspects that may influence the outcomes must be considered on a diversified note. For instance, the age factor entails sampling different age groups. On the gender aspect, it means that, on the undertaking of the project, there shall be no alignment to one particular gender; rather the two genders must be given relatively equal consideration so as to come up with results that are accurate as far as positivity theory is concerned.
