Honesty is one of the most important values in life. It is the character that gives one virtuous values such as straightforwardness, truthfulness, and integrity. Honesty breeds trust. Other than earning one respect among their colleagues, honesty also helps one lead a free and fulfilling life. Honesty extends beyond not lying. It is also about being true and real with oneself and being open about it. Being honest with ourselves helps us accept the way we are, creating an opportunity for empowering our individual self (Palacios, Echaniz, Fernandez, & Barron, 2015). It also helps us become consistent with the facts that we present to the world. It is a virtue that must be embraced by all.
Unfortunately, according to the article, cheating has become normalized. Sadly, cheating is most prevalent in schools where honesty is supposed to be cultivated.
