If motivation primarily comes from within and is generated by individuals, different strategies for engaging staff must be utilized. The leader's personal charisma and personality characteristics are not sufficient to create the context for consistent and constant staff engagement. Aligning staff's personal motivation with organizational goals is critical to generating investment and ownership on the part of the staff. It is important for the leader to take time to delineate the sources of staff motivation in order to help staff align their personal goals with the goals of the organization. There are many ways of motivating individuals in the workplace. However, personal motivation still stands out as the best way of enhancing workers, productivity Marslow. (1954, 276). Many organizations have not been able to perform because they have not identified appropriate strategies of tapping personal motivation in their organizations. Leaders of many organizations have employed ways which do not integrate personal motivation to yield the needed performances. Imagination and innovation is what drives individual’s daily efforts.
Personal motivation in the organizations.
Motivation comes in two main ways; from within and from external influences. Outside forces can help one to realize what he or she wants to achieve, but only you can impact on your own performance. Marslow (1954, 276) theory of needs indicates that human’s innate curiosity is what drives an individual to perform and innovate. How to realize personal motivation in work places is still a major challenge to most leaders.
