The Situation - Boston University (BU) is located on a large inner-city campus that stretches for about two miles along Commonwealth Avenue, which is one of the main routes into central Boston from the west of the city.  As a part of this campus, BU owns and operates the Nickerson Field sports complex, which was originally the home of the Boston Braves baseball team.  BU purchased the field in 1953 when the Braves relocated to Milwaukee, and over the last sixty years or so the complex has been and is still used to host various BU sports teams.

The Nickerson Field site is at the western end of the BU Charles River campus, and is close to both bus and subway routes.  The site is also only about a mile or so away from the Boston Red Sox ballpark at Fenway.  Over the years, this area has been developed by BU with many student housing units, a Fitness & Recreation Center, the Agganis Arena Ice hockey complex, the ‘New Balance’ multi-purpose sports field, and other BU facilities.

For your Team Project in this course, consider an effort by Boston University to own and operate a minor-league baseball franchise on the site of its Nickerson Field complex.   The franchise would play 75 home games, primarily at night, between April and October, and would hope to draw large crowds from BU students and staff, and from local residents.  The capacity of the Nickerson Field complex is 10,412.

Stakeholders Analysis
Nickerson Field, formerly Braves Field, is one of the outdoor athletic stadia located at the western end of Boston University (BU). Notably, the university purchased the stadium on 30th July 1953, as one of the ideal investment. Since the completion of the purchase process, the stadium has become the main field of the university’s terrier athletics programs, including lacrosse and soccer. Currently, the stadium complex has a capacity of 10,412 people. Boston University has expressed its interest in owning and operating a minor-league baseball franchise in one of the sites of Nickerson Field complex. A communication plan would be essential as a significant guide on the active exchange of ideas in the entire project.
The minor-league baseball would host a total of seventy-five home games between April and October, especially at night. Therefore, an effective communication plan would be one of the fundamental requirements of executing the project without any hindrance. Arguably, the involved stakeholders would have an obligation of exchanging relevant ideas without any hindrance and, thus, the need for an effective communication plan. Eskerod, Huermann, and Savage 2015 postulate that the core objective of a communication plan would be determining the requirements for an active exchange of ideas about the Nickerson Field minor-league baseball project and outline effective ways of sharing information in an effort of promoting the realization of the set goals. Accordingly, the stakeholders would need to update the communication plan as per the needs of the project change.
Stakeholder analysis
Boston University would be one of the major internal stakeholders as a sponsor for the baseball project. Besides, the project would involve suppliers, baseball team members, and corporate partners as equally relevant internal stakeholders (Eskerod et al., 2015). On the contrary, ...
