Debate Summary Name: Institution: The cat debate The residents of Edmonton cannot seem to agree whether to allow cats to roam in their neighborhood. Animal right activists feel that cats are animals and thus need to roam around, so that they can develop their hunting skills, which is natural to them. The activists feel that the cats provide companionship to the owners and their children. They also added that, these are values that most flower gardens do not offer. However, they also agree that, some of the owners can be quite irresponsible. The opposing side feels that the felines are unwelcome visitors. In their view, cats cannot be treated as if they are in their natural environment, since that is not the reality. As such they suggest that they be regulated, so as to reduce the number of residents who want to keep them. Traps have been given out by the city in a bid to capture all the stray cats in the area. Ideally cats cannot be allowed to roam and sully the neighborhood; as such owners need to find a better ways of keeping them, in a manner that will not disrespect the wishes of those that do not want to keep the cats.
