The play describes Jason – a primary care provider – as an awkward, bumbling, research-minded resident. First, Jason needs to learn about human dignity. Dignity implies worth or value. Within a deeper philosophical context, it means the worth that each person is accorded since they are a human. Jason needs to learn about human dignity to ensure he realizes the negative consequences of using human beings as research specimens rather than enhance their wellbeing and quality of life. In that way, the information mentioned earlier would help Jason re-examine his behavior and undergo some personal transformation to ensure he handles dying patients with dignity as humans (Edson, 1999). In addition, the message would radically and truly enhance the quality of care and patient outcomes.
