"When I despair, I remember that, all through history, the way of truth and love has always won." These are the words of Mahatma Gandhi, and I believe they are correct. Throughout the entire movie, the audience gathers a lot of insight, education, and inspiration. The cinema traces India's daunting journey path towards decolonization, guided by Gandhi, the "Great Spirit." These events took place before 1948 when Mahatma Gandhi spurred India's strife for sovereignty from the British Empire. The film depicts various tribulations and trials that India and endured, thus touching on numerous social issues. 
The hero of the movie, Mahatma Gandhi, is a prime illustration of patience, humility, and courage. Through him, the audience views how love and trust bring about justice and unity. Despite the oppression, Gandhi kept the hope that one time, India would be free and autonomous. His words and actions pointed towards freedom and justice. Popularly known as the peaceful warrior, Mahatma Gandhi believed in courageous, calm words and actions of resistance. He served jail sentences and suffered hunger and pain with courage. Mahatma Gandhi did all these with full knowledge that truth and love will win when the time comes. This is why when he meets with General Smuts at the latter's office, he appears calm and collected.
