CLIMATE CHANGE AND ALTERNATIVE ENERGY

Climate change is a reality that the whole world has to contend with. Although there are diverging views on the causes of climate change, the fact remains that the world’s energy supply of fossil fuels is dwindling. We only have a couple of years before the non-renewable energy of fossil fuels is gone. Thus the need to find another source of energy is not only compelling but absolutely necessary if we are not to go back into another ice age or global extinction. The governments of the whole world have the primary responsibility to make sure that the burning of fossil fuels are regulated and at the same time to look for an alternative source of energyADDIN CSL_CITATION { "citationItems" : [ { "id" : "ITEM-1", "itemData" : { "author" : [ { "dropping-particle" : "", "family" : "Union of Concerned Scientists", "given" : "", "non-dropping-particle" : "", "parse-names" : false, "suffix" : "" } ], "container-title" : "The Union of Concerned Scientists", "id" : "ITEM-1", "issued" : { "date-parts" : [ [ "2009" ] ] }, "publisher-place" : "Ohio", "title" : "Confronting Climate Change in the U.S. Midwest", "type" : "report" }, "uris" : [ "/documents/?uuid=08dadac4-a2e7-4d7c-ad79-a1bbbdb3659c" ] } ], "mendeley" : { "formattedCitation" : "(Union of Concerned Scientists, 2009)", "plainTextFormattedCitation" : "(Union of Concerned Scientists, 2009)", "previouslyFormattedCitation" : "(Union of Concerned Scientists, 2009)" }, "properties" : { "noteIndex" : 0 }, "schema" : "https://github.com/citation-style-language/schema/raw/master/csl-citation.json" }(Union of Concerned Scientists, 2009). Corporations have no legal accountability to the people and are only concerned with profit. It is therefore the role of the government to mitigate the effects of climate change, to reduce and ultimately stop carbon emissions, and to find another source of energy.
There are various viewpoints on climate change. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), composed of 130 governments and climate scientists worldwide have already achieved a global consensus that climate change is caused by carbon emissions due to fossil fuel burning of the industrial age that we have now. However there are still some sectors that say that the climate change that is occurring right now is part of the natural cycles of the earth. I believe that there are compelling reasons why climate change issue is not a hoax. For one there is direct scientific evidence that show CO2 absorption wavelengths in the Earth’s Greenhouse. Scientists were able to isolate the CO2 that comes from the burning of fossil fuels and how this one factor is creating climate changesADDIN CSL_CITATION { "citationItems" : [ { "id" : "ITEM-1", "itemData" : { "author" : [ { "dropping-particle" : "", "family" : "Union of Concerned Scientists", "given" : "", "non-dropping-particle" : "", "parse-names" : false, "suffix" : "" } ], "container-title" : "The Union of Concerned Scientists", "id" : "ITEM-1", "issued" : { "date-parts" : [ [ "2009" ] ] }, "publisher-place" : "Ohio", "title" : "Confronting Climate Change in the U.S. Midwest", "type" : "report" }, "uris" : [ "/documents/?uuid=08dadac4-a2e7-4d7c-ad79-a1bbbdb3659c" ] } ], "men...
