Question 7.1
The differences are observed in two main ways. Psychological disorders occur for a short period of time and they are less chronic. On the other hand, personality disorders occur for a long period of time and also they are more stable. Both disorders can be easily treated although they require different therapeutic approaches.Pychological disorders can be treated using the in the treatment cognitive behavior therapy approach. Most of the psychologists and psychiatrists consider the personality disorders to be very difficult to treat with the traditional approaches. Pharmacological method of treating this disorder do not have many benefits as compared to the psychological method of treatment. Bipolar disorder and schizophrenia found in psychological disorder require a lot of medication for one to be treated successfully (Torgesrsen, et. al., 2012). Personality disorders are difficult to detect. This is because they are integrated in the patient’s personality structure as compared to the psychological disorders observed in the behavior of a person.

Borderline disorder is common in women due to genetic reasons. It is associated with severe cases of premenstrual tension. Sexual abuse that women go through makes them to lack trust in men. Also it occurs as a result of death, rejection or abandonment of an individual. The way that borderline disorder expresses itself in men might be different as such it may not be easily recognized. Another reason is that men do not easily seek psychological help thus they cannot be easily diagnosed with this disorder. Antisocial disorder leads to a disruption in the standard development of the central nervous system of human beings causing the release of hormones that change normal behavior patterns. Among the symptoms of the disorder, aggressiveness is one of them. This symptom of aggressiveness is associated with testosterone hormone that is found men (Murphey & Mcvey 2010). Men are also more likely to persist in their antisocial behavior as compared to women.
