Climate justice seeks to alleviate the unequal burden placed upon people because of climate change. Chatterton et al (2013) highlight on the significance of climate justice as articulated through political forces as a means to bring change on climate change negotiations.
According to Hugo (2010), environmental change influences migration, though other factors like economic, social and demographic pressure also affect migration. For instance, the Asian Pacific region migration was affected by adverse climate change. Migration from areas most affected by climate change can occur voluntarily or people can be forced by circumstances, but environmental refugees are left with little choice on where to go. This is a critical reflection on climate justice, highlighting on risks of climate change and ways to mitigate loss from environmental change.
Countries suffer different threats from climate change, and Bangladesh is prone to climate change effects because of its topography and low lying areas (Hossain et al., 2012). The country faces unique challenges owing to the high population of people residing near coastal areas, as the rising sea levels are likely to submerge many areas in the future. Nonetheless, tackling climate change has also been hampered by migration patterns adopted by countries especially in the Asia Pacific region. The poor are often the least likely to migrate across borders because of lack of skilled labor and few resources. Thus, even political advocacy can fully deal with the issue as there is a need to collaborate in order to manage migration brought about by climate change.
Even though, Hossain et al (201...
