I like the propositions in the response. There is a connection between the two weights and the balance of the person walking on the rope. From a non-scientific view, the presence of the weights and the pole makes the whole thing harder. Perhaps their main purpose is to create this illusion in the viewers and thus make the whole thing more impressive. However, scientifically, holding the pole with the weights at a certain height lowers the center of gravity, as is pointed out in this post, and thus makes it easier for a person to walk on a rope. I like the use of the concepts of angular motion and inertia in the explanation. They make it easier to understand the viewpoint of the writer.
