I am writing this essay concerning my entrance into the Seafarers International Union, particularly to its Apprentice Program. As a student, I think the organization is perfect for me because firstly, it has an affiliated schooling program for individuals willing to learn all of its 12 autonomous labor unions including my specialty as a merchant mariner. Secondly, the school is arguably important for me because as it is popularly known, it is the largest maritime labor and education organization in the United States. Moreover, SIU contains an association called the Sailors Union of the Pacific, well deserved and granted by the American Federation of Labor. This issuance gives the organization the power to help the graduates of its programs and employees to retain their employment with the fight against loss of jobs.
I have my reasons for joining the program and working at the sea. Firstly, I want to join the school because I love traveling and I would love to go around the globe making memories and living the best of my potential. Secondly, I like socializing and interacting, and a position working as a merchant mariner would ensure that because I will get time and space to meet new people from various nationalities, then lay a platform where I can understand their beliefs and traditions.
