Week 1 Discussion Nature of Crime and Criminology. Parking in a handicap parking space is an example of mala prohibita. It is a parking violation that violates city and state laws and is usually punishable by a fine. In order to park in a handicap parking space a permit is needed. Most disable people have permits, decals, or a handicap license plate displayed on their personal vehicles. When this type of crime is committed ‘intent’ is not required. Parking in a handicap parking space goes not have a detrimental effect on the society but it does have an effect on the disabled. It make it hard the disabled because if they have to park in a regular parking space that places them further away from where they are trying to go causing them to walk farther.

Mala in se are crimes that are morally wrong and heinous. Murder is the type of crime that requires intent. It is morally wrong to take the life of another person. Murder has a very negative impact on society and as well as the victim’s family. Murder cost the police money and manpower to investigate the crime and as well as the courts. It causes fear from the public because there could be a murderer on the loose. Society thinks that the murderer should be held accountable for their actions and brought to justice.

Introduction
Criminologists consider the aspect of crime as a form of deviance, an aspect that has received several conflicting views. This is in the fact that some of these criminologists consider crime as an anomic behavior, while others it as a conscious response to some of the social conditions that have inhibited the society. This paper seeks to establish and discuss a mala prohibita crime and a mala in se crime.
Types of Crimes Selected
Traffic Violation:
Parking violation regulations are primarily contained in the provisions of the law in each state and define the procedures of parking as stipulated by the Parking Violations Bureau as established in Article 2-B of the Traffic and Vehicle laws. Such laws are violated in an instance where an individual finds a free parking lot in a crowded region that is not prescribed for their use. When such an individual spots that the lines on the street are faded, he is bound to believe the parking space is regular, an only realizes after parking there that the parking is set aside for handicapped people (Adams, 2015). In such an incidence, it can be established that the individual misread the street markings, an aspect that results in a traffic violation. In this case, the individual is believed to have committed a crime and is charged of a mala prohibits by parking in a handicapped parking space without proper permits. In such an incidence, it does not matter whether the individual assumed the space was free for use, thus making him guilty for breaking the statute irrespective of his intent.
