The American Presidential-Congressional system and the British West Minister Parliamentary system have both similarities and differences. For instance, both systems have a single leader. Nonetheless, a president is directly elected by the people, leads the American presidential system while a Prime minister, appointed by the Queen, leads the British system (Roskin, 2012). The American system is better because it provides appropriate checks and balances while the parliamentary system passes legislation quicker than the presidential system.

The Post-World War 2 constitutions of both Japan and Germany represent a continuity of previous democratic institutions. According to Roskin (2012), Federalism is a crucial feature in the government of Germany, yet this political system was established as early as 1871. Japan also had a democratic system prior to World War 2 owing to the fact that Huntington and Harvard University (2006) argues that Japan and Korea both had democracies long before the advent of constitutions. However, the current German and Japanese governments embrace some aspects of liberalism, which was not the case prior to World War 2.

The American political culture is similar to other liberal democracies because the American constitution has several aspects of a liberal democracy. This owes to the reality that a liberal democracy embraces policies such as the right to life and the principle of freedom (Simeon and Lenard, 2012). The American political culture embraces such policies implying it is similar to other liberal democracies. The American culture is also different from other liberal democracies owing to regulations that govern elements such as the right age to earn a driving license because this regulation opposes the idea of a free and fair society. Hence, the American constitution has both liberal and democratic aspects.
