The Interrupters is a film that is based on stories of three violence interrupters who are trying to protect Chicago communities from violence. The film that is set in Chicago captured the period when there was widespread violence in the various parts of America, especially in the cities. The main subjects in the film work for Ceasefire which is against the spread of violence. One of the beliefs that they hold is that violence is likened to the spread of an infectious disease. When it begins, it can spread so fast, and as a way of making sure that they do away with violence, they begin employing their efforts at the root of the matter.
Ameena Matthews was a daughter of one of the city's notorious gang leaders called Jeff Fort, and she was also a drug ring enforcer. However, she got changed after bearing children and adhering to the Muslim faith. She helps her mother when she is grieving Derrion Albert's death. She also befriends a teenage girl who reminds her of herself at that age. Ameena tries to guide the young girl in the right direction of life.
