The biological processes that affects ones ability to make and retrieve memories include emotional, environmental and the physiological processes. However memory of an organism is entirely controlled by the brain which is the central organ of response co-ordination. Memory is also affected by cognitive processes such as perception, reasoning, and decision making. Physiologically memory is affected by fatigue, nutrition, illness and some types of medicinal products. Socially things such as group pressure also affect memory. A person’s attitude, mood, and motivation socially affect his/her memory. The difficult childhood experiences that may be caused by social adversities can continuously affect a person even in adulthood hence leading to problems in memory (American Psychological Association, 2010). Memory fixation can lead to interferences in emotions, immunity and metabolic balance hence leading to increased disease risk in adulthood.
