We all witnessed how technology gradually alleviated the means of our living. Moreover, its development paved a way on making life easier, increasing work efficiency, and enhancing our quality of life. Despite the tremendous advantages brought by technology, we have also learned that it can be used as a means of oppression. It can be used to augment prejudice, discrimination, and social injustices. Furthermore, technology may also become a tool used to threaten humanity such as its utilization in cybercrimes as well as in hacking various national and international security systems. Because of this, many people argued on the proper way of employing technology (Lazzarato, Virno, & Hardt, 1996). In this paper, as part of the current civilization, I shall discuss the technological future that I want to see and the possible ways to implement these while minimizing its negative social impacts.
As a child, I have always visualized a bright future ahead of technology and this mindset has not changed at all up to the present. Through my childhood naivete, I was able to envision a future that I wanted to experience. This future can be categorized based on the goals of a particular technology, which is artificial intelligence (AI): First, AI may be used as a means of enhancing the welfare of the patients in the healthcare setting. This will be done by incorporating robots that will aid the physicians and nurses in assessing and treating the patients. AI may also be used in enhancing the work of the laborers, especially in the factories. AI can aid them in enhancing their precision and the quality of work; Second, technology can be utilized in reducing the greenhouse gases that cause global warming. To do this, technology will be used to create vehicles that reduce the use of gasoline and diesel. Currently, there are already vehicles that use electricity as fuel. However, I envisioned vehicles that also uses the minimum amount of energy to prevent overexploitation of the energy sources such as the bodies of water; Third, technology will be used as a means of education to the marginalized and remote communities. This can be done by collaborating AI with the internet. AI can serve as remote educators in remote areas which have difficult access to school and learning materials; and last, technology shall be used to reduce the prevalence of accidents in many countries, such that, an AI with a sensor will be used in vehicles to help the motorists drives safely.
