Everybody deserves the right to leave even after committing a crime; someone has a right to be treated according to the laws that govern criminals. In order to improve the world, especially on administering law and justice to criminals, several reforms need to be enforced. Whenever somebody commits a crime and he is arrested by the police, he or she should not be subjected to torture in order to make confessions. Secret accusations, inconsistency, and inequality of sentencing, use of personal connections to get lighter sentencing and use of capital punishment for serious and minor offenses should be condemned in the court of law.[Beccaria, C. There is a great need for a reform in the criminal justice system. Punishment should only be used for defending the social contract and ensure people get motivated to abide by it. The method of punishment chosen should on which is of the greater public good. The punishment should serve to create a better society not to revenge. It should also be used to prevent other people from committing crimes and to discourage the criminal from repeating the crime again. Punishment should actually increase the total amount of happiness of the people in the world not increasing their pity.[Ramello, GB, & Marciano, A. (2018). After the crime has been committed, the punishment should follow immediately or after a short time. This will help in strengthening the association between the criminal's behaviors and the punishment he is getting which will, in turn, discourage him from repeating the crime. When punishment follows crime immediately, the two aspects of crime and punishment will stick on the criminal's mind. The association between the two will be good enough if the punishment is one way or another related to the committed crime.
