Meditation
Meditation is one of the fastest growing trends in the society today. It is considered a way of connecting with the inner self and detaching oneself from the world around them. This way they are able to get clear thoughts and energy flowing within them. Having grown up in a Buddhist environment at home, it was not first time seeing people practice the elements of meditation. The experience at the Zen Center of Syracuse Hoen-ji, was different and new.
During the meditation session held on Saturdays between ten and eleven in the morning, there were some significant experiences that stood out. One of the experiences involves the element of focusing one’s attention. It is common that whenever one if not meditating, they are constantly distracted by the activities that are around them. This means that their focus is constantly challenged and as such will not do one thing for a long time. From time to time, one is distracted and they end up focusing on more than one thing at time. During the meditation session, it is possible to shut out all of what is happening around. This means finding the discipline to focus on one thing at a time. This could be focusing on the heart beat to find some element of calmness. During the meditation, session this experience was profound and it lay out vividly that power that is in the meditation process. Focusing on thing requires great abilities in control, from the position to the breathing rate. By controlling the various elements of the body, one finds the strength of giving all the attention to one particular aspect.
The experience of the meditation activity is largely different for many people. At the same time, it’s different for the same person especially when considering that a person will meditate for different reasons. The experience one gets when meditating for a benefit, growth or even spirituality. In reference to the different needs for meditation.
