The poem "mirror" by Sylvia Plath uses a series of metaphors to express various situations in the poem. The author compares the mirror to the lake to show some similarities while at the same time showing some differences. The author uses the mirror to represent the lake indicating that it is a silver and exact. These are characteristics of the mirror. However, there are some differences that are also evident in the poem. The lake swallows whatever it sees. This is an attribute that is not possessed by the mirror.
