This age makes it one of the oldest known arts in the world. The figurine symbolizes fertility and a mother goddess. The Baptist of Christ originated from the Italian culture during the Renaissance, specifically between 1472 and 1475 (Joyofmuseums.com). The painting depicts the Baptism of John the Baptist as recorded in the New Testament Gospel books.
Creators
Little is known about the specific creator of Venus of Willendorf, but researchers believe that it was the work of the nomadic hunters and gatherers of the Paleolithic period. On the other hand, Andrea del Verrocchio and Leonardo da Vinci were the creators of the Baptist of Christ. Both were Italian painters and sculptors of the renaissance period. Leonardo da Vinci was born around 1452 in Italy and was educated in Florence by Andrea del Verrocchio (Heinrich, 1). Da Vinci was also a draughtsman, a theorist, an architect, and an engineer.
