Reflection on ‘The Injustice Never Leaves You’
In ‘The Injustice Never Leaves You’, Martinez gives an account of history as never told before. I have had the chance to read her book, and I am glad that I had come across this video in which she is talking about her book. One of the most interesting bits of her speech is the manner in which she talks about the Chinese and so much forgotten history about China. In this speech, she makes me realize that Chinese people are largely neglected. This is because China pays much attention to the history and events that led to and took place during the Second Sino-Japanese War during World War II. This war is very important to China because it remains the biggest war that China has ever been involved in. In addition, the war led to so much damage to China, involving deaths and loss of property. From Martinez’s speech, I also get to learn much of what has never been said about the war, the participation of China, and the impact that the war had on the country.
This speech also makes me to realize that there is a lot that is not talked about in history books on the history of the Chinese immigrants as well as the racial prejudice and injustice that they faced during that time. The Chinese immigrants were not treated fairly due to their race, and this also helps me to understand the racial profiling that takes place today. Martinez must have consulted custodians of Chinese history, most likely those who were involved in the war so as to come up with so much in-depth h...
