Student Art Work
The title of the art work and the name of the painter are not indicated in the painting. The picture of a woman used is that of a lady named Erica Casbar; that is, it is picture of someone. In regards to the art work’s form and medium, the art work is an oil painting and it is made on canvas. The shape is geometric given that it is square in shape, and the colors are bold and vibrant. The artist utilized shades of bright, lovely colors to make this minimalist painting. A few shades of colors have been employed by the artist, including red, green, yellowish-green, black, and pink. Pink is basically the color of the lady on the painting.
On the left part of the picture, there is the face of a lady, perhaps in her twenties. She appears to place her right hand in front of the right section of her face, thereby covering her right eye, as she stares boldly and straight to the viewer with her left eye. At the top of the canvas, the lower part and at the right hand side, besides the lady’s hand, abstract, nonfigurative forms have been employed extensively by the artist.
The artwork is not well balanced; this is primarily because there is more happening on the left side where the face of the woman is situated and less is happening on the other sides. In other words, the artist gave more weight on the left side by placing the woman’s portrait on this side, but counterbalanced by using more abstract forms on the other sides of the canvas. Given that bright shades of colors, particularly red, are employed in nearly every part of the painting, the color utilized does not purposely draw the attention of viewer to any one corner of the canvas. The focal point of the artwork is on the left area where the artist positioned the face of the lady. This is the most noteworthy segment of the scene, and is where the eyes of the viewer will go first. The artist of the art work did this purposely in order to make the viewer focus on the lady in the painting. Generally, the texture is soft and smooth. The artwork is simple and flat, and it has a traditional style. It is imperative that art engages one’s feeling. This art work communicates specific emotions and feelings; the artist successfully expresses the composure o...
