An event that resulted in Personal Growth and Improvement in Understanding Myself and Others
As I grew up, I dreamt of my senior year in high school. I envisioned myself applying for colleges and making important decisions concerning my future, the excitement that would come with the new chapter, including graduation. School provided a routine and structure to my life as a student. Everything seemed to go well until the Covid-19 outbreak. Consequently, schools in Michigan were shut down until April 6th, 2020. The school closure came with vast experiences that prompted personal growth and cultivated an understanding of myself and others. It disorganized my plans and visions concerning my senior year in high school.
When Covid-19 broke out, schools were shut down. However, my previous experience with emergencies made me increasingly empathetic and conscious of the people and communities around me. I noted that not everyone responded to the directives laid down by the government as well as health officials. This period empowered me to re-examine my perspectives on the need to re-invent myself and see how I could encourage individuals to keep adhering to the recommended behavioral and social practices to enhance their safety and health outcomes. Such efforts were crucial in raising community awareness concerning the deadly virus and avoiding infecting others.
In addition, I found myself interacting with strangers, advising them on the Covid-19 protection protocols, and offering any support needed in the community.
