Description of the Topic
During this semester's in-class lectures, the most exciting topic that caught my attention was "PTSD in Children." Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is initialized as and mostly called PTSD. It denotes a mental medical condition that arises from a terrific event by the victim facing or witnessing it (Miao 2). Many individuals who experience this health condition are highly likely to adjust or cope with the situation as relatively problematic. However, the victim usually gets better with excellent self-care and time considered. The chances are that a victim can face consistent symptoms for several months and even years. Such a situation means that the person will have PTSD, and the condition will interfere with the person's normal daily operations or interactions. According to the class lectures, the most affected group encompasses children. Various events trigger the condition in children and even grown-ups. These events stimulating Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are sexual abuse through rape cases, crime, accidents, war, domestic violence, substance abuse, etc.
           Despite the event's passing, memories or thoughts about the specific traumatic event reoccur and persist, causing more emotional damage to the victim involved. The victim might continue feeling increasingly fearful and nervous rather than recovering from the undesirable event with time. PTSD can tamper with a child's life for the longest time ever. However, parents or guardians should embrace treatment and make them recover and feel better about their situation. Frightening memories and thoughts regarding the scary event of the past will always affect the child battling PTSD. It implies that these kids may recall the trauma every time, which is not suitable for their mental health. Flashbacks and nightmares might characterize their experience. If the kid does not receive medical interventions or therapy, they might be exposed to increased risk for other mental-related complications such as suicidal thoughts, depression, and anxiety.
Ways it was Meaningful to me.
           The topic was critically meaningful because I learned new concepts that I had never understood before. Most importantly, I learned and acknowledged various facts from the topic "PTSD in Children."
