Prostitution in society has been a big problem for over a long time. Often the victims are the young, uneducated and poor females who are forced to engage in such acts as a means of survival. In regards to this, it only makes sense to view this contemporary problem from the perspective of the social conflict theory. Prostitution in society loudly speaks of the social inequality that exists between those who have resources in society and those who lack.
The problem of prostitution can best be explained from the perspective of the social conflict theory because of various reasons. To begin with, the theory suggests that there is unequal distribution of resources in society where money is distributed based on race, gender, ethnicity and even social class (Richard N.p).
