Introduction
The purpose of this paper is to focus and place a great emphasis on the importance of surfactant on the respiratory system and how it functions. This laboratory report has been divided into two parts, the experiment and the paperwork. At the beginning of the trial experiment, I have used a common household product to place emphasis on the scientific explanation of the necessity of surfactant in terms of the respiratory aspects of the body. According to Edwin J.A., Veldhuizena H. (2000) that pulmonary surfactant strongly controls the tension in the surface at the level of air-liquid inside the lung. In the next paragraphs, the process of the experiment will be thoroughly explained, and results will be shown with a clear conclusion as to how this project relates to the physical state of the respiratory system. This process explains how the vertebrates and the lungs function hand in hand. My hypothesis is that I will see how the surfactant acts inside the lungs through the experiment using milk, food coloring, and dishwashing liquid and be able to illustrate the tension of the surfactant within the respiratory tract. This paper is about understanding how the surfactant acts and works inside the physical state of a human being. This is about illustrating how surfactant works inside the respiratory system or the lungs.
Materials and Methods
The method used in this experiment involved the performance of task 1, which is about the surface tension, and task two, which focused primarily on how surfactant truly works inside the human form. The totality of materials used were only household products such as milk, food coloring, a penny, an eyedropper, and tap water. As to the first task, I placed the penny on a flat surface and used the eyedropper to drop water on the surface of the coin. I counted the number of drops before the whole surface was filled with water. Thus, the tension at the surface seen when I dropped water on the penny is the property that surfactan...
