Other (Not Listed) Instructions:

Please see attachments. The reflection paper should talk about the art exhibition that I had included in the attachments. No outside sources needed only the ones attached.

Throughout the semester, we will attend numerous humanities events. You will review four events, and they will each be worth 100 points. On four Thursday evenings during this fall semester, as a class, we will attend a live
play performance, an art exhibit, a music venue, and a film. After your attendance at these events, you will need
to write a reflection for each one which must include:
ü- Must include a title page stating your name, my name, date, and a creative title.
ü- One paragraph of summary (in your own words) – What was it? Who was it? What happened? Where
did you go? What did you see? What was said? etc.
ü -Three to five paragraphs of response – What ideas seemed to you important? Why? What words or images caught your attention? Why? You may find it necessary to describe one or two works of art here, and show what you saw in them, or you may find it more appropriate to discuss themes,

characters, costumes, staging, direction, sounds, instruments, performers, or emotions stirred, etc. if attending a play or musical performance. Place special emphasis on any connections you’ve found regarding themes, ideas, or works of art we have discussed in class with the events you have attended.
ü- One to two paragraphs describing your overall experience – why did you choose this event rather than another? What did you learn? Did you like it? Hate it? Why or why not? Be specific. Use examples from the event to support your thoughts. Was it a worthwhile experience? Again, be specific and use examples from the event to support your thoughts. Would you do it again? How did this experience compare to your expectations?
ü- Each review should be at least 4 to 6 pages in length, double-spaced.
ü -Each review should be coherent, organized, free of major spelling/grammatical errors, and must use correct APA format.

What was it?
In the write-up of this essay, I chose an art exhibition from Norman’s Memory Serves: Drawing to a Close collection. The reason for choosing this art exhibition is because it is part of the works located in Drawing to a Close by Mark Gilbert’s father, Norman.
Who was it?
Mark chose this art together with his because of the diverse family experiences they portray. This assignment’s selected art for analysis consists of Mark’s mother, Patricia. The selected work contains a woman (Pat) seated on a chair with her hands interlocked. Pat is also wearing a scarf around her neck.
What happened?
Pat died of a stroke in 2016 after being diagnosed with dementia in 2010. Therefore, Norman drew her during the last days in the hospital, as he had done so many times. Norman’s drawing plays a crucial role in showing us how we can consider our relationship to giving and receiving care, our appreciation of health and illness, and our understanding of dementia, death, and dying.
Where did you go?
The selection of this art exhibition resulted from a meticulous process that was a success. I began by checking the various images in Norman’s bulky suite of work Memory Serves: Drawing to a Close. Norman’s bulk of the work contains 14 drawings he had created. At the bookending of his suite of work, there is a sketch of Pat before she became ill titled Woman with Scarf, 1992.
What did you see?
I observed a lot from the provided artistic exhibition. The art depicts a calm lady who appears deep in thought. The woman seems to be in a healthy state and concentrated on something. Although Mark asserts that his father drew her mother, Pat, in her last days in the hospital, one cannot tell if she is unwell because of her upright posture and calm facial expression. Lastly, Pat’s eyes seem fixated on something, perhaps the artist (Norman). After drawing Pat, Mark decided to show these works alongside his because they intended to look into his family’s experiences.
What was said? etc.
In this art exhibition, Mark asserts that his father drew his mother during her last days at the hospital. Mark states that the purpose of this collection was to provide insight into the relationship between giving and receiving care. The exhibition intends to enlighten the public on the importance of appreciating health and illness and further enhance our understanding of dementia. Such images invite people to talk about death and grief openly.
What ideas seemed to you important? Why?
When I first saw the image, various ideas seemed essential to me. The image helped me understand how Mark’s mother looked, despite hav...
