- The child’s capacity to understand information or Receptive Language is highly associated with reading comprehension. The simple view of reading (SVR) assumes that the child interprets the written information the same way as he interprets verbal information (Serry et al., 2008).
- Word identification is more prognostic to younger kids or those who do not have the skills yet, while listening comprehension is more extrapolative for the older children (Serry et al., 2008). This is because younger kids are less likely to read texts.
