The world has long been dealing with child trafficking and abuse. Children are being used either to do the act or to be acted upon with a crime. One of the reasons for the engagement of children is that minors are brought under the custody of organizations for minors, rather than in jail. This excuses the perpetrators from being held accountable for their malicious deeds. On the other hand, the children, for most cases, are left with trauma.
Child abuse can be linked to the problem of poverty and social injustices in society. It creates a crisis that puts the children in a dilemma at a young age. Poverty compromises the necessities of children like food, clothing, and shelter. Aside from being prone to abuse and trafficking, their mental, physical, and emotional state are also at stake. Poverty and social injustices deny them access to education, health care, and even a sound environment to grow up to (Duncan & Gunn, 1997).
On a macro-level perspective, issues of child abuse taint the country negatively. It paints a country with malicious images and affects tourism which then affects the economy (Bjorklund & Freeman, 1994). A domino-effect can happen because of the issue of child abuse. Also, because poverty plays a big role in the existence of child abuse, a rise in child abuse crimes suggest a country's poverty level.
On a smaller scale or micro-level perspective, child abuse can damage a child's mental stability (Ali & Bahar, 2011). Their trauma from abuse or crime involvement can affect their living and their mindset. If not attended immediately, they may bring it when they grow up and it will be harder to change them. This may create more conflict to the self and to the society in the future.

Conflict theory has been a great help in understanding the existence of child abuse. It exposes the underlying factors that enable the social problem to operate despite the counter solutions made by public and private organizations (Ali & Bahar, 2011). This theory elaborates on the effects of poverty on child abuse. These include lack of access to good education which later on results in unemployment because of a lack of education requirements in job opportunities. Conflict theory enlightens the roots and ends of child abuse. Knowing where a problem comes from and ends to matters when planning for a solution.
