This week's readings explored Roland Barthes and Pierre Bourdieu's views on personal style blogging and fashion language. The idea that fashion is written to reflect its social meaning struck me as compelling. Written clothing or fashion descriptions are only symbolic, unlike authentic clothing. This distinction showed me how language shapes fashion knowledge. The readings' "legitimate difference" notion intrigues me. Asian fashion superbloggers represent this idea. As Asians in a white-dominated field, their disparities are accepted. This thought makes me consider how ethnicity and identity affect fashion. It shows how some people are seen as unusual yet not foreign,
