The Greeks On Homosexuality
Greeks normalized inter-male sexual relationships because they viewed it as a means to affirm and strengthen bonds between soldiers (Loader, p. 31). This belief and point of Greeks sound plausible in a way. Because soldiers of their time needed to have firm trust and knowledge of each other, relationships might have been the way to achieve such bond. Through unique relationships, either sexual or romantic, people can share more than personal preferences. They could also gain each other's companionship and guidance in times of need. Such a relationship must be the standard or acceptable for Greek soldiers to go well with their fellow men. Also, validating male relationships to form bonds is a validation of any strategies to strengthen the force of soldiers in terms of personal connection.
