PART ONE: It is all a matter of power and social class when it comes to understanding crime and deviance in U.S. society.  We are far more likely to enforce laws against working class and poor people than people in the upper middle and upper classes. With this in mind, do you understand the importance of distinguishing the difference between deviance and crime?  Do you understand why the lecture emphasized the DIFFERENCE between crime (almost everyone breaks a law, that is, commits a crime sometime during their lives) and the chance of getting arrested (which is based on your status in society by gender, race, ethnicity etc.)? To both questions, please answer "yes" and then explain why you understand the distinctions between deviance and crime, and between committing a crime and getting arrested. You must link your “yes” answer to specific things you learned in this week's audio lectures. Be sure to both define and apply concepts from the lectures of this week to your answer.
PART TWO: Were you surprised to learn that in U.S. society, some rural communities have as much crime, if not more, than urban communities? The same may be true of many other societies as well, depending up various economic, social, and cultural factors. What is a sociological explanation for levels of crime in rural communities that is, why are some crimes in rural places very high and perhaps even higher than in urban places?
PART THREE: This is a bonus question (20 point), but only if you answer it thoughtfully.  We will judge that for ourselves. What one sociological lesson (use your sociological imagination) would you like to remember from this class that you can apply to your own life. This lesson can refer to any of the lectures over the 14-week semester.
A suggested length to your answer is between 400 to 800 words – for both parts. The word length is only a suggested minimum and suggested maximum. You may answer in fewer words than 400, but ask yourself if you have fully answered the question. You may answer in more words than 800 words, but ask yourself if you have too much verbiage (i.e., b___s___) that is not really relevant to the answer. In other words, regardless of the length of your answer, demonstrate that you listened and viewed the lectures and that your answer is connected to the content of this course for weeks 13 and 14.
You may apply personal examples (about you, your family, your community, your friends and your society), but you must be sure that you link these examples to the subject matter of the lectures in this course. Otherwise, the examples are extraneous and will lower your grade.
Our goal (the instructors) in this course is to respond to each of your posts. If we do not, it is either because we inadvertently skipped you or something has happened that has caused us to fall far behind in our work (we will try mighty hard to catch up). The longer into the week you wait to respond, the less likely we will have time to respond.

Although both deviance and crime describe wrong acts at the expense of following what should be done, they differ in various ways. The two issues occur in different settings and the cause of action by the respective bodies maintaining the administered regulations reveals a great distinction. For instance, while one could spend years in prison for criminal activities, deviating will earn an individual punishment in line with the action. However, both people have faced the repercussions of their actions. The implementation of punishment upon deviance could differ depending on the aspects like the social status, class, gender, and race of the offender. For instance, if a wealthy person breaks a social norm, they may not receive a proportional punishment with a person from the low-class status. On the other hand, women may get severe punishments than men in the same circumstance of deviation depending on the beliefs of the society in question. Although courts work under various rules and regulations, some people may as well away with worse crimes, while people committing petty crimes may go to jail. However, the difference may reflect on the evidence provided and the lawyer acting on behalf of the plaintiff. The age of the person committing a crime might also determine the judgment rendered in court whereby, young people get longer imprisonment terms than aged individuals.
